How to book your walk

Book your date with the walks coordinator. Tuesday gentle pace walks should be booked with Mary first. You can see which dates are already taken on our walks calendar.
What we need
When and where
- Start time — usually 10:00, though you can choose another time
- Start point — the car park name is usually enough; an OS grid reference helps. If parking on private land, you must have the landowner's permission
- Parking charges — we try to say where charges apply (all Forestry England car parks, some local authority and National Trust ones). Updates are useful
- Finish time — the systems we use need one. Unless you tell us otherwise we assume 5-mile walks take 2½ hours and 10–12-mile walks take 5½ hours
The walk itself
- Length — miles or km
- Route notes — as much or as little as you like. A forest circular walk is fine. Include anything walkers need, such as boots, wellies or hills
- Contact — usually a mobile number, which helps people who get lost on the way. A landline or email is fine. What we publish is your choice; talk to the walks coordinator if you have concerns
Leaders can book a date in advance and send the details nearer the time.
